 “Mari has been teaching my 12 year old daughter for 9 months – both clarinet and theory tuition – and quickly developed a good relationship with her and the rest of our family. Always punctual, Mari is well prepared for each lesson and gives much thought to the musical education and progression of her pupil. Mari is very professional in her approach but is also chatty and fun – I frequently hear tutor and pupil laughing together. Mari quite obviously wishes her pupil to achieve and expects practice/exercises to be done but she has always listened to our wishes when considering exams and has taken on board that I feel that it is also good for my daughter just to play for pleasure and experience as many types of music as possible. To this end, Mari regularly e-mails me info/you tube clips of pieces and conductors (with her own opinion) and she discusses them with my daughter so as to introduce different aspects of musical life as possible. I am sure, however that she would be equally as comfortable concentrating on the exam syllabus. My daughter likes Mari very much, she has recently passed Grade 3 and is happily working towards Grade 4 (and I can see her progression and technical improvement) with some jazz and blues thrown in to mix it up a bit!”
